Materials
- Yarn in two colors calling for a 3,5 mm hook. You are free to choose the yarn and hook according to your own personal preference but make sure to use a crochet hook that’s one or two sizes smaller, it makes the fabric a little tighter, so it will hold the stuffing without showing holes.
- Size 2.5 mm crochet hook. This is my absolute favorite crochet hook I recommend to everyone.
- Poly-Fil Fiberfill stuffing.
- Embroidery floss in different colors.
- Stitch marker.
- Yarn needle.
What did I use?
Schachenmayr Catania, sport weight yarn, 100% Cotton, 1.76 ounces = 137 yards/50 grams = 125 meters. Colors: 00436 (beige), 00225 (pink).

Good to know before your start
- The ice cream starts with a magic ring. You don‘t have to join each round with a slst. You crochet in rounds most of the time.
- All amigurumi toys are crocheted with tight stitches. If you tend to crochet loose, use a smaller hook size than recommended.
- Stuff details very tight as you go. Stuff amigurumi as tight as you can. A chopstick or a pencil helps you to spread the stuffing into every corner.
- There is a chance that you will lose the beginning of the round, to avoid this mark the first stitch of a round to keep track of where the round begins. It can be a colored pin or thread.
- Change to a new color by finishing the last step of the last stitch of the old with the new yarn. Your next stitch will be the first stitch of the new color.
Cone
The Ice-cream is crocheted from the cone to scoop in rounds. You can use brown, beige, peach colors for the cone.
R1: start 6 sc in a double magic ring (6)
All the following rounds are crocheted back loop only with X-shaped single crochet stitches. Follow the link to find the step-by-step tutorial for X-shaped single crochet stitch.
You can crochet V-shaped single crochet stitch all the time, but for a neater result, it is recommended to use an X-shaped single crochet stitch for the ice cream cone. Using two crochet methods will enhance the overall appearance of the crocheted ice cream.
