About this Free Crochet Bear Pattern
To reduce the requirement for sewing, I’ve crafted this crochet bear pattern in a way that incorporates the head, arms, and body into a single piece. This smart approach not only simplifies the assembly process but also guarantees a smooth outcome that is both durable and aesthetically pleasing.
This pattern offers comprehensive guidance on crafting this adorable bear, making it ideal for novices and those new to crocheting. With step-by-step instructions and helpful tips, even beginners can confidently tackle this project and create their own charming bear.
Feel free to experiment with different yarns, but I recommend opting for a slightly smaller crochet hook size than usual. This technique creates a tighter stitch, which prevents stuffing from peeking through and gives your bunny a more polished look.

Gauge and Measurements
Gauge isn’t crucial for this complimentary free crochet bear pattern; you can effortlessly modify your toy’s size by using a smaller or larger hook and various yarn types.
Made from listed yarn on a 2.50 mm crochet hook, my finished toy measures 5.50 inches (14 cm) tall.
For those aiming for the same size, this gauge can serve as a reference: 10 stitches and 10 rows in single crochet measure 3.5 x 3.5 cm (1.37 x 1.37 inches).

R8-15 (8 rows): 1 Sc in all st (10)
Remove marker and stuff bottom part of the arm. Turn the detail so that the invisible decreases made in round 6 are facing you. Press both sides of the arm’s open end together as shown on photo 3. Before your start Round 16 crochet 2 Sc more to the outer side stitch.
R16. Ch1, insert the hook through the corresponding stitches on both sides of the arm’s open end to crochet them together with 5 Sc (photo 4). Break the yarn and weave in ends.
Crochet the second arm in the same way (photo 5 and 6).
Legs
Use brown yarn. Crochet in a continuous spiral with a stitch marker.

R6: 1 Sc in all st (18)
R7: 1 InvDec, 8 Sc, 1 Inc, 7 Sc (18)
R8: 1 Sc in all st (18)
Enlarge the loop and break the yarn. Crochet the 2nd leg, but do not break the yarn this time.
Body
Stuff while you go. Go ahead on the 2nd leg to connect both legs into a body.
R1: 1 Sc, Ch 4 (= Ch4-chain), take the 1st leg (photo 1), place enlarged loop back on your hook and tighten (photo 2),
insert the hook into the next st on the 1st leg (photo 3), yarn over, pull up a loop (3 loops on the hook), yarn over and pull the yarn through all loops on the hook (photo 4),
then 17 Sc over the remaining sts on the 1st leg, 4 Sc along the ch4-chain, 18 Sc around the 2nd leg, 4 Sc into the loops on the other side of the ch4-chain (44, photo 5 and 6). Next stitch will be a new beginning of the following rounds.
R2: 1 Sc (this st is hard to crochet therefore use a smaller hook for convenience, place marker), 17 Sc; in the middle: 1 Inc, 2 Sc, 1 Inc; on the other leg: 12 Sc, 1 Inc, 5 Sc; in the middle: 1 Inc, 2 Sc, 1 Inc (49)
R3: 5 Sc, 1 Inc, 43 Sc (50)
R4: 1 Sc in 49 st, 1 Slst, remove marker and fasten off invisibly (50)
To do so, cut yarn, pull the end of yarn through the last stitch completely and thread it onto needle. Skip one stitch then insert needle into the next stitch in the same way as you would your crochet hook (photo 7). Insert needle back into the same stitch that the yarn end is coming from but into the back loop only (photo 8).
Tighten it just enough so that the join looks like a regular stitch (photo 9 and 10). Weave tail into wrong side before trimming.
R5: Find centre stich at the back side of the toy (where we have just finished the round invisibly), insert the hook in this stitch, red yarn over (photo 11), Ch 1 and 1 Sc in this stitch (photo 12), 3 Sc, 1 Inc, 16 Sc, 1 Inc, 6 Sc, 1 Inc, 16 Sc, 1 Inc, 3 Sc, 1 Hdc (54)
R6: 1 Sc in all st (54), remove marker, change color to green in the last step of the next sc
Next round will be crocheted as closed round which means you will start round with one initial chain stitch to get the right height for the following stitches and close round with a slip stitch into the first stitch of the round.
R7: Ch 1, 1 Sc in all st (54), 1 Slst into the 1st sc of the round with red yarn (photo 13 and 14). Fasten off green yarn.
Next round will be started with one initial chain stitch, but will not be closed with a slip stich, we just continue to crochet in rounds as usual, with red yarn.
R8: Ch 1, 1 Sc in the same st (where we have just crocheted the last slst), 1 Sc in 53 sts (54, photo 15)
Continue crocheting in rounds with a stitch marker (in a continuous spiral).
