Materials for Free Crochet Snake Pattern
Pick your favorite plush yarn – just pair it with a matching hook size for best results.
For this snake, Himalaya Dolphin Baby Colors was used – 100% polyester super bulky baby amigurumi yarn. Each ball weighs 100 g (3.5 oz) and measures 120 m (132 yards).

Additional materials:
- A bit of smooth (not bulky) pink yarn for the tongue, for example, YarnArt Jeans
- Crochet hook size 3,5 mm for the snake, 2 mm for the tongue
- Fiberfill stuffing
- Bead eyes, 8-10 mm in size
- Scissors
- Yarn needle
- Stitch marker

Gauge and Measurements
The completed snake is about 120 cm (approximately 47 inches) long. Gauge isn’t super important for this pattern – you can easily adjust the size by going up or down in yarn or hook size, or playing with both.

Let’s Start the Snake Amigurumi Pattern Free
The snake is crocheted starting from the head. Work in rounds, always moving the stitch marker to the first stitch of each round. Stuff as you go.
R1: Into the magic ring, 6 single crochets, then pull the yarn tail to close the ring (6)
R2: inc in each st around (12)
R3-5: sc in each st around (12)
R6: [sc, inc] x 6 (18)
R7-9: sc in each st around (18)
R10: [sc, inv dec] x 6 (12)
Continue crocheting the body for approximately 145 rows. You can increase or decrease the number of rows depending on the desired size of your snake.
R11-155: sc in each st around (145 rounds, 12)
Next, crochet the tail, decreasing one stitch every 5 rows until only 6 stitches remain.
R156: inv dec, 10 sc (11)
R157-161: sc in each st around (5 rounds, 11)
R162: inv dec, 9 sc (10)
R163-168: sc in each st around (5 rounds, 10)
R169: inv dec, 8 sc (9)
R170-174: sc in each st around (5 rounds, 9)
R175: inv dec, 7 sc (8)
R176-180: sc in each st around (5 rounds, 8)
R181: inv dec, 6 sc (7)
R182-186: sc in each st around (5 rounds, 7)
R187: inv dec, 5 sc (6)
R188-192: sc in each st around (5 rounds, 6)
Tighten the opening, cut the yarn, and weave in the end inside.
Tongue
With smooth pink yarn and a 2 mm crochet hook.
Take one end of the yarn and chain 3 stitches (photo 1). Then take the other end of the yarn and chain 3 stitches the same way (photo 2).

Next, place both unfinished 3-stitch chains (from each yarn end) onto one crochet hook (photo 3). Then, chain 4 stitches, working through both strands of yarn at the same time (photo 4). Fasten off, leaving a long tail for sewing (photo 5).

Sew the tongue onto the amigurumi ring where you started crocheting the snake. Attach the bead eyes, slightly pulling the fabric to shape the head as you sew.
